The Spanish church meeting in our former building (Dios Habla Hoy) with Pastor Guadalupe Jovel has leased to purchase the Living Christ building we accepted on trade when Living Christ moved into our former building. Their first service in their new building will be this Sunday, July 11, 2010. We rejoice with them!
Bethel Assembly has entered into a contract with Messner Construction of Wichita Kansas to design and later to possibly build our new church building. The architects are presently working on the first stage which is "schematic design" and will immediately upon its completion go into the second stage called "design development." We will not do the construction documents at this time.
Bethel has entered into escrow for an additonal 10 acres that will be used to build a senior congregate care facility. We have signed an agreement with Harmony Senior Living, LLC to build this facility. The projected date to begin construction on the first of two buildings is November 1, 2010. At that time they will purchase the south 5 acres (parcel 5) and take a 3 year option on the north 5 acres (parcel 4).
We have identified the land we want to build our new church facilites on and have entered into escrow with the Robert Wagner/Melvin Lanting Family Trust to purchase it. On the tentative parcel map that follows it is parcel 1 and parcel 2.
Living Christ Church purchased our church building (parcel 1) and we will be sharing occupancy while we design and construct our new facilities. Living Christ will have their first service in their new building on July 11th. Bethel's service will remain at 9 AM on Sunday morning and we will still have full use of the building for our family night service on Wednesday at 7 PM. We will continue to operate as we have in the past with the only difference being that we will be co-existing with Living Christ.
The land was divided into 3 parcels allowing us to sell the church building (parcel 1) and the land it is sitting on seperately from the land (parcel 3) needed by the city for the overpass and the land we will be selling for future development (parcel 2).
"Be it resolved that the board of Bethel Assembly be authorized to take all necessary steps required to obtain new property, to sell the existing property and to relocate the church."
